Brian Newhouse, Managing Director of Minnesota Public Radio/American Public Media's classical programming

Brian Newhouse is the Managing Director of Minnesota Public Radio/American Public Media’s classical programming. He holds degrees in voice and English from Luther College, and had an active professional singing career alongside his work in radio. He won a Peabody Award for writing the radio documentary The Mississippi: River of Song, and he’s the author of the memoir, A Crossing. He also hosts the Friday night live broadcasts of the Minnesota Orchestra heard regionally on Classical Minnesota Public Radio. He and his MPR colleagues have innovated a program of outreach and education for Minnesota schoolchildren called Music for Learning that in the past two years has served over 50,000 students across the state. He and his family live in St. Paul.
