George Family Foundation Board Member, Jeff George, was interviewed by Fortune magazine
George Family Foundation Board Member, Jeff George, was interviewed last week by Fortune magazine. As President of Alcon, the $11 billion eye care division of Novartis and the leading producer of ocular products globally, Jeff led the recently announced partnership between Novartis / Alcon and Google to develop a glucose-sensing “smart” contact lens for diabetics to enable significantly less invasive continuous blood sugar monitoring as well as “autofocus” contact lenses and intra-ocular lenses for those with presbyopia who can no longer read without glasses. While diseases of the eye are not a funding focus of the Foundation, it is good to know that there are corporations who are actively seeking solutions to treat life-changing eye issues; there are nearly 400 million diabetics and over 1.7 billion people with presbyopia globally. We hope you enjoy the interview.
