Dr. Penny George Honored by University
With Spirit of the Center Award
Penny Pilgram George, Psy.D., has been presented the “Spirit of the Center” award by the University of Minnesota’s Center for Spirituality & Healing. The award, which honors health and wellbeing leaders, was given during a special ceremony at the Center’s 20 Year Anniversary Celebration.
“Penny is a person of enormous heart and great integrity,” said Center Founder and Director, Dr. Mary Jo Kreitzer. “She is a visionary within integrative health and medicine, and is dedicated to innovative solutions for healthcare challenges. We are deeply grateful for Penny’s leadership in integrative health and wellbeing at the local and national levels, and for her ongoing partnership with the Center. ”
The Spirit of the Center Award recognizes individuals that demonstrate five qualities that embody the Center’s values, including courage, compassion, curiosity, tenacity, and vision.
“I feel honored and humbled to receive this award because I have such high regard for the immensely consequential work of the Center,” said George. “It is through the leadership of Mary Jo and her faculty and staff that the University of Minnesota has been central to the movement to transform medicine in this state and across the country to bring about optimal health and wellbeing.”
Inaugural winner Earl Bakken, co-founder of Medtronic, Inc., received the Spirit of the Center award in 2010.
